SUMMARY:

The present work aims not only to present an autoethnographic account of the preparation and premiere of Gilson Santos' composition "Concerto Negro for Trumpet and Orchestra" but also to describe the analytical-interpretative process involved in creating a piano reduction of the orchestral part. This reduction facilitates greater accessibility for conductors studying the score, thereby enhancing the feasibility of performing a contemporary Brazilian piece. The composition employs inventive orchestration, coupled with vibrant sounds of popular Brazilian rhythms such as Ijexá, Jongo, Vassi, among others.
