SUMMARY:

Integrating a line of research processes and dimensions of artistic production in percussion, this dissertation presents ways to expand the creative and interpretative possibilities of four works, two of which are reinterpretations and two creations, taking as a basis the categories recently created and presented in recent festivals/ frevo competitions, entitled Frevo Livre Instrumental. Based on the ideas presented in this new category, the research is developed in search of new compositional and interpretative paths to carry out the performances of No Passo; Tem mestre no frevo; Passoando na pracinha: frevo para percussão e dança em três movimentos - 1. Ferrolho, 2. Levada, 3. Tramela; and Pandivando. To this purpose, the research contains different elements for its execution, such as the different possibilities of instrumentation to carry out the performances, the use of dance as part of one of the compositions and the creation and interpretation of one of the works using a digital music instrument, titled Pandivá. The work also draws attention to the performance and role of women in instrumental frevo, taking as an example the composer and pianist Amélia Brandão Nery - Tia Amélia - and this researcher.
