SUMMARY:

This research arises from the need to analyze and discuss the evaluation process in music education in elementary schools in the Metropolitan Region of Natal. Over the years of graduation, through the stages and subjects of the curriculum, I identified the lack of depth in the debates on evaluation in Music Education, or that I came to realize that the curriculum did not show itself in a broad, in-depth and practical way, possibilities to develop and plan the school evaluation. Assessing is part of everyday school life and, as is known, is intrinsically associated with the teaching-learning process (SWANWICK, 2003). Given its importance within the educational process, I was moved to think about the role of evaluation in Music Education. Considering such importance, the present work defines as this problem: how does the evaluation process within music education in basic education happen when you start? Furthermore, this work aimed to investigate concepts, instruments and methodologies used in evaluative practices in music education together with a group discussion (GALLEGO, 2002); (GODOI, 2013). For the investigative procedure, we will use qualitative research, considering that it allows a greater understanding of the problem studied and the possibility or understanding of the phenomenon, without leaving aside the elements that it involves, reinforcing its exploratory and subjective character, allowing, as a point SAMPIERE , COLLADO AND LUCIO, (2013), make the world visible, through a set of descriptive and interpretive practices. It will be discovered in the scientific literature or theoretical and conceptual apparatus on the conceptions around evaluation, based on SWANWICK (2003), BORNE; BELTRÁN (2017), KRAEMER (2005), SANT' ANA (2014), ROLDÃO e FERRO (2015), MENEZES (2010), ANDRE (1996), LUCKESI (2011), PERRENOUD (1999), among others. The aim of this investigation is to present assessment as a procedure that allows monitoring students, their limits, advances and difficulties throughout the process of developing their skills and competences, as well as identifying the assessment instruments used by music teachers. basic education in schools in the metropolitan region of Natal, to know the music teacher's relationship with the evaluation process, to understand the choices of two evaluation instruments, how they are being approached and the criteria in the musical evaluation of teachers.
