This research is inserted in the scope of the instrumental practice and the Teaching of the Instrument. In spite of the recent growth of the interpretive practices as field of studies, the number of works is still small considering if especially orchestra instruments like the horn, object of study of this work. In this direction, this dissertation has as general objective to identify characteristics and to point technical-interpretative and pedagogical directions in works for horn composed by members of the Laboratory of Musical Composition - COMPOMUS, with emphasis on the composers Marcílio Onofre and José Orlando Alves. The specific objectives are: to identify written works for the horn by said composers; select the main works composed by the mentioned composers highlighting those that more technically explore the instrument; to identify technical-interpretative characteristics of the main works written for the instrument by these composers; from the technical-interpretative characteristics of the works present pedagogical perspectives; to relate the technical-interpretative characteristics of the pieces studied with the teaching of the current instrument; identify the main Brazilian compositions for the instrument in the 21st century. I hope, based on this qualitative study, to contribute in the universe of the research of a little studied instrument, pointing technical-interpretative and pedagogical perspectives for a repertoire little touched on the reality of the horn in Brazil. Through bibliographic research, documentaries, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with the composers of the works, I will collect information that will be fundamental for the development of the research. I hope from this work to contribute to the technical-interpretative and pedagogical development of the horn as well as to stimulate new interpreters to research the instrument.
