RESUMO:

This paper deals with the musical knowledge transmission in the Coco de Roda Group Master Severino. Discuss here the processes and strategies used in the group for the seizure and dissemination of coconut play in the context of the unique cultures of oral tradition. The group has unique characteristics about their training, in which the members play not part of the family within the Master or form part of your community. To carry out this research in a context as complex, I use the method of ethnographic case study, as well as techniques from ethnography, such as participant observation, semi-structured interviews and unstructured, informal conversations, audio transcripts and videos of rehearsals and performances as well as the recording of the second group CD process. Balizo this research with the theoretical assumptions of anthropology, sociology, ethnomusicology and music education in order to discuss the concepts related to the transmission, culture, popular culture, coconut, tradition and memory.
