SUMMARY:

Chronic injuries cause physical, psychological, social and economic changes for the individual/family, in addition to compromising health services, due to their chronicity. Proper recording of these injuries favors monitoring the evolution of the case, favoring comprehensive care. Thus, the objective was to analyze the quality of records of venous ulcers (VU) in health units in Natal-RN. An exploratory and longitudinal survey study was carried out, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Nursing professionals who treat users with VU participated, representing 23 basic health units in the municipality. A questionnaire was used for data collection (sociodemographic aspects and records of care for people with VU), applied on the Google Forms platform. Most respondents were women (93.9%); aged between 20 and 45 years (63.9%). With regard to nursing care records, 30.30% did it properly, addressing the affected limb, the edges and the wound bed. About the evolution of the lesion and the frequency of changing the dressing, 15.15% recorded it properly. About the guidelines, 21.21% instructed about healthy habits and risk of relapse. Furthermore, 54.54% of respondents consider their records inadequate. Thus, it is necessary for managers and professionals to articulate spaces for discussion on the implementation of public policies that favor human and material resources to effectively meet the demand, because in order to face the various health problems, whether morbidity or mortality, it is necessary to a reliable information base that sustains and directs decision-making.
