SUMMARY:

Introduction: Hypertension is a serious public health problem that affects a large percentage of the Brazilian population, causing a large number of complications and deaths nowadays. The monitoring of hypertensive users in the Family Health Strategy (ESF) is essential for a better control of this pathology, and consequently for the reduction of damages, and nursing care is essential for paradigm shifts in this context. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of a multifaceted intervention of nursing care offered to users with arterial hypertension in the FHS, with a view to better blood pressure control. Methodology: This is an epidemiological, experimental, cluster-randomized trial, with a practical approach, carried out in the FHSs of two cities: Jucurutu, Rio Grande do Norte and São Caetano, Pernambuco. The research was composed of nurses working in the FHS of the two cities12 FHS) and hypertensive users (231 users) who were divided into two professionals, the control group and the intervention group. Sample selection was performed at two levels, that is, two randomizations. The first defined as teams of FHS participants in the research selected the study users and the systemic arterial hypertension they will integrate. 4 interventions were carried out during the study: Training of professional nurses; application of structured nursing consultation for hypertensive users; telemonitoring and/or home visits for follow-up; and matrix support for nurses in the intervention group. Results: After the application of the intervention, an increase in the rate of blood pressure control was found, as well as a reduction in the levels of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure, in users in both groups, although the results not found demonstrate statistical significance, the importance of nursing care in a structured way, to this group, for better monitoring and consequent control of blood pressure levels.
