SUMMARY:

Introduction: Dental prenatal care (PNO) in the Family Health Strategy (ESF) is based on the guidelines of the national oral health policy published in 2004, which stimulated the expansion of dental services for this very unique group. Despite the evidence and its great importance for the mother-child binomial, dental care during pregnancy still suffers from major barriers, both from the point of view of professionals and pregnant women. Studies that assess prenatal care in Brazilian municipalities have shown that the coverage of this service is still considered low, and the dental surgeon has difficulty in being part of the team that provides assistance to these women, providing care in isolation. with a greater focus on curative actions. Objective: to characterize the dental care provided by Dental Surgeons (CDs), within the Family Health Strategy (ESF) in the city of Parnamirim/RN, with regard to dental care during the gestational period. Methodology: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample will be intentional and non-probabilistic, consisting of 38 dentists who provide dental care to pregnant women in the Family Health Strategy (ESF), in the city of Parnamirim/RN. Data will be collected from the application of a semi-structured questionnaire, consisting of 30 questions, built on the google forms platform, which will be sent electronically (E-mail/WhatsApp) to the participants. For tabulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel and Rstudio software will be used. Results: As a result, this study intends to guide the planning of actions and policies within the municipality that will strengthen dental care during pregnancy and will contribute to the recognition of this practice as an essential care for the assistance of women and future children.
