SUMMARY:

Adolescence is a period known for changes and vulnerability, exposing the young to situations of violence, mental illness, and it is necessary to be aware of the needs of this group. This study aims to know the perception of adolescents accompanied by the ESF under mental health service. This is a study of qualitative approach and descriptive-propositional nature, the existential action research type, which used the projective interview technique, using Sandplay for data collection. The interviews were developed with the help of a semi-structured script, which was organized in four question sessions, which had the following questions: What is adolescence for you?; What causes mental distress at  this stage of life?; Is there a family relationship with this suffering?; and, Do you feel welcomed by the health team?. Along the interview was developed the technique called Sandplay or Sand Game. As a result, it was possible to understand how the adolescent accompanied by the ESF uses the municipality`s mental health service and its implications on the care received. Through projective technique exposes thoughts, sometimes not expressed in the interview. In this sense, the Family Health Strategy must be able to develop new care modalities based on the real problems of the clientele in question, thus contributing to the planning and organization of care, as well as to the adolescent mental health care network. The study obtained a favorable opinion from the Research Ethics Committee HUOL/UFRN (Parecer n. 3.440.688 e CAAE: 13447719.9.0000.5292).
