RESUMO:

The problem of analysis was: what is the perception of professionals and users about the group as a tool for health promotion and self-care in the Family health strategy in the municipality of Asú/RN? The general objective is to analyze the perception of professionals and users about the groups as a tool for health promotion and self-care in the Family health strategy in the municipality of Asú/RN. This is a descriptive research of a qualitative approach, which, according to Minayo (2009), works with the universe of the meanings of values and attitudes that phenomena are interpreted from their actions within the reality lived. The research project was approved through the opinion 3,180,297 on March 01, 2019 of the Ethics and Research Committee of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes-CEP/HUOL, which is linked to the department of Collective Health of the Federal University of Rio Grande do North-UFRN. The study was conducted in 01 Basic health unit of the urban area of the municipality of Asú/RN, with a sample consisting of 10 professionals from the multidisciplinary family health team and eight users participating in health education groups who worked in Same team. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were used with the professionals and the focal group with the users. Data analysis was performed using Bardin's content analysis. The results showed that the groups are planned collectively by the team, with the organization and definition of themes with greater centrality in the nurse. In the perception of some professionals, the groups are conceived as a space for coexistence and exchange, for others, as a space for information transfer. As difficulties in forming groups, the professionals elicit the lack of time due to the high demand for individual care, the disarticulation of the team and the lack of interest of some to participate in the moments of team meetings and lack of Municipal management support. As a potentiality, the professionals reported the partnership, humility, the establishment of dialogue and the love of work. The users described the groups as spaces of transformation that contributes to autonomy and self-care.
