RESUMO:

The psychiatric reform movement proposes the production of new practices and contexts of mental health care interventions, against the hegemonic medical logic that has produced an epidemic of diagnoses of mental disorders and the consequent phenomenon of the medicalization of life. One of the expressions of this phenomenon is the high prescription rates of psychoactive drugs and the uncritical use of these drugs by SUS health service users. Therefore, it is urgent in the context of articulation of psychosocial care with primary health care in Psychosocial Care Networks, to propose elements that are aligned with non-medicalizing perspectives and that seek a model of intervention that privileges comprehensive and territorialized mental health care. In the Family Health Strategy, we have the privileged locus for production of new care technologies that favor demedicalization, empowerment and the production of autonomy of the subjects in mental suffering and with mental disorders. Among these, we can consider that Autonomous Medication Management (GAM) constitutes a group device with emancipatory care potential, constituting a concrete tool to face the problematic of medicalization of life. Thus, we aim to investigate the limits and potentialities of the GAM device as a strategy of care and coping with medicalization in the context of the Family Health Strategy in a municipality in the interior of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. It is a research with a qualitative approach using action research, assuming the ability to interfere in the studied reality and to modify it, analyzing its effects for the participants. The instruments used will be: the realization of a GAM intervention group, with ESF users and using psychoactive drugs, where the encounters will be recorded in audios and transcripts; participant observation and semi-structured interviews with participating users. For the analysis of the material, the analysis of content will be used. We hope at the end of the study to have subsidies to think the potential of this strategy in the face of medicalization in a city of the interior and consequent production of mental health in this context.
