RESUMO:

Syphilis is a systemic infection, caused by Treponema pallidum transmitted most often by sexual and vertical, being exclusive to the human being, and that can evolve to a chronic aggravation of serious consequences when not treated early. (HORVÁTH, 2011, BRAZIL, 2015). This study seeks to understand the difficulties of the professionals and the reasons for the persistence of high transmission rates of Congenital Syphilis and because pregnant women who perform prenatal care are not diagnosed and treated avoiding the onset of Congenital Syphilis, as well as to stimulate care professionals to health to carry out their role in the prevention, detection, notification and treatment of this disease. This is an evaluative study with triangulation analysis. Initially the documentary research will be carried out, where the official municipal documents will be analyzed in order to verify the presence of the issue of combat and control of congenital and gestational syphilis as a priority issue; then the intervention research with the professionals that make up the Family Health and Secondary Care Strategy in the municipality of Guamaré-RN will be developed. The research will follow two distinct steps: In the first stage a semi-structured interview will be conducted, aiming to identify the health education needs presented by professionals about the subject and also the need for changes in practices and process management. After evaluating the results through discourse analysis, by obtaining indicators that allow the inference of knowledge we will carry out the second stage that will be the development of educational actions through a refresher course for the professionals researched. It is expected with this study, to carry out an intervention that contributes to the change of undesirable situation that is observed, overcoming underreporting, late diagnosis and ineffective treatment.
