RESUMO:

The Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICs) was instituted since 2006 in Brazil, through the Unified Health System (SUS), with emphasis on Primary Care. The Family Health Strategy (ESF) is structuring and priority of the work process of Primary Care (AB). The PICs have had considerable advances in Brazilian AB in recent years, being today a strategic standard of the Ministry of Health to certify the quality of the teams in Primary Care. The present study is descriptive and exploratory, with a contribution in the qualitative approach and aims to analyze the use of PICs by Primary Care Professionals / Family Health Strategy (ESF) in the Municipality of Assú, located in the West region of Rio Grande do Norte ( RN), with a population estimated for 2016 of 57,644 inhabitants, being considered a medium-sized municipality. Data will be collected through a semi-structured questionnaire, database of the Program for Improvement of Access and Quality in Primary Care (PMAQ / AB), National Register of Health Facilities (CNES) and Outpatient Information System (SIA) . For the analysis of the empirical data, the analysis of thematic content will be used, according to Bardin. The research will comply with Resolution 196/96 of the Ministry of Health and will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of  RN. As a result, we intend to identify which PICs are used by the professionals of the AB in the municipality of Assú, in what form they are used. Investigate the existence of incentive, training or training for the use of PIC as therapeutic strategies in the daily life of ESF professionals and to describe the professionals' view on the use of ICPs in the daily routine of the FHT.
