RESUMO:

The skin is the largest organ of the body, indispensable for human life and essential for the physiological functioning of the organism. Like any other organ, it is subject to suffer aggressions from intrinsic and extrinsic pathological factors that can trigger changes in its constitution, such as cutaneous wounds, which can lead to its functional incapacity. In Brazil, wounds affect the general population, regardless of sex, age or ethnicity, contributing to increase the number of people with changes in skin integrity, thus constituting a serious public health problem. However, statistical data are still scarce due to the few records of this kind of service. However, the appearance of wounds increases public spending and impairs the quality of life of the population (BRAZIL, 2012). From this perspective, a Basic Guide on Wound Prevention and Treatment was developed aiming at guiding the conduct of the nursing professionals of the Basic Health Units in the city of Natal. However, although this Guide has been adopted by nurses of the Basic Health Units since 2016, no study has been carried out to measure the impact on wound treatment, that is, whether there is a greater resolution in the treatment and if there is a reduction of costs in carrying out such procedures. Thus, this research aims to analyze the effectiveness of wound treatment, from the perspective of nursing professionals, after the implementation of the Basic Guide for Prevention and Treatment of Wounds in the UBS in Natal and, also, to seek to validate
