RESUMO:

The Family Health Strategy was created with the objective of reorient health services within the scope of SUS Basic Care. It is formed by multiprofessional teams, where are inserted the professionals of Dentistry responsible for actions in promotion, prevention, recovery, rehabilitation. Childcare acts to keep the child healthy and ensure its full development in order to reach adulthood without unfavorable influences and problems arising from childhood. Dental care initiated in the first care of the newborn associated to frequent consultations in the subsequent months can contribute in a differentiated way in the prevention of diseases that may affect the stomatognathic system and also for a better acceptance of the dental outpatient dental treatment when necessary. Childcare consultations should be part of the work routine of ESF professionals, however, in some units this practice is not effectively carried out by all. From this perspective, there is a need to know how to proceed with dental care in childcare in the FHS of Caicó / RN, aiming to analyze the perception of dental surgeons and nurses about the participation of the dentist in childcare consultations. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive, qualitative study that will use semi-structured interviews with 19 nurses and 19 dentists of the FHSs in the city of Caicó/RN. The interviews will be transcribed by the researcher responsible for then being evaluated and the data processed through the content analysis, proposed by Bardin. Regarding the ethical aspects, the research was approved by the CEP HUOL/UFRN under the CAAE 94960518.1.0000.5292 and opinion 2841028, and authorization of the Municipal Health Department of Caicó for data collection (letter of agreement). Prior to data collection, participants will sign the authorization term for voice recording and free and informed consent.
