AREA: Turismo
SUMMARY:

The present study seeks to indicate sustainability in tourism systems as an investigative paradigm, which observes the changing perspective that constitutes the tourism phenomenon, according to the heterogeneity of its interrelationship multiplicity, which are the social and / or technological, economic, cultural, environmental, and political multidimensionality. In the context of the COVID-19 crisis, such multidimensionality implies the ability to measure a new dynamic, which forces destinations to “reconfigure” - World Tourism Organization (2020) to resume tourist activities. Given the implications of this multidimensionality that affects the transcendence of sustainability in tourism, this dissertation problematizes and aims to study “how tourism sustainability systems are constituted – its investigative paradigms, in the Hermeneutic perspective.” From this, as specific actions of this analysis, it 1) Describes the tourist systems, aiming to show the organization and the reach of sustainability’s facets; 2) Identifies how sustainability is characterized in these systems, observing the transcendence between the systems by the historical line of scientific knowledge in tourism; 3) Interprets the scope of these systems, in view of the goals of the 2030 Agenda (United Nations, 2015) as a parameter of contextual demands (according to the crisis by COVID - 19), in which the UNWTO (2017) affirms it as “a unique opportunity to advance the contribution “of tourism to the environmental, social, and economic pillars. In this sense, this study is based on the theory of sustainability that emerges with the competitiveness of tourist destinations Ritchie and Crouch (2003). This narrows this dissertation to the social and technological dimension indicators. The research is based on the collection of secondary data. It is a qualitative research, in the hermeneutic perspective, which complies with the hermeneutic circle, observing the historical line of tourism knowledge platforms by Jafar Jafari (2005): Plataforma Apologética (1960); Precautoria (1970); Adaptive (1980); Scientific (1990) and Public (2000) establishing objective and subjective frameworks with the delimited systems: Cuervo (1967), Leiper (1979), Sessa (1985), Boullón (1985), Beni (1998), Molina (1991) , OMT (2001), Beni (2017). The technical procedure adopted is content analysis, supported by the Iramuteq Software. The epistemic expectation of the analysis is expected to contribute to further clarification of these systems by showing through Hermeneutics the scope of sustainability approaches based on the aspects and adaptations of these systems, as well as their transcendent arguments, which reflect the applicability of research in sustainable tourism.
