RESUMO:

In the eagerness to understand the tourist experience, this construct emerges as a key concept caught in the middle of incessant academic debates between the perspective of the Human and Social Sciences and the Marketing and Management aspects. The search for a consensus on the dimensions, variables and phases of the mentioned construct becomes complex due to its subjective load. Transversely, besides influencing tourists’ decision-making process, user-generated content (UGC) on the Internet is also a pathway to reconstruct the memorable tourist experience. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the memorable tourist experience of Argentines who visited the destination Natal (Brazil) reflected in the content generated by them on the Internet, considering that Argentina represents the main international outbound tourists’ market for Rio Grande do Norte since 2013. To do this, an empirical, descriptive and exploratory research is proposed from tourists’ micro-perspective reflected in the UGC in the TripAdvisor virtual community, complemented by a systematized literature review. We propose an analysis of manually-obtained data based on an interpretative mixed-methods approach, configured by the deductive and inductive methods about both a global and an aspect-based tourist experience. Content analysis is proposed, with the support of software NVIVO 12. The results of a pilot test developed in the period of January-June 2019 with a preliminary sample of 120 units of analysis are presented. It is expected to obtain final results that contribute to a better understanding of the nature of the tourist experience as a construct in the Tourism field, together with a theoretical-methodological framework to be used in a practical way by the state of Rio Grande del Norte Destination Management Organization (DMO) in order to obtain a deep knowledge of the Argentine tourist experience and, thus, to improve its international incoming tourism management.
