SUMMARY:

Taking autoethnography as a theoretical-methodological inspiration, this Master's in Performing Arts research has the general objective of investigating the powers of the fat body in the scene, discussing the obstacles that make them unfeasible, as well as their affirmative reverberations, with the intention of strengthening more and more women-fat-actresses and facing fatphobia in the theater. Among the theoretical references of this study are Malu Jimenez (2020), Márcia Metz (2019), Fernanda Magalhães (2019), Denise Sant'anna (2001, 2016), as well as Georges Vigarello (2012), Michel Foucault (1987), Judtih Butler (2002) and Janaína Leite (2017). It is often said that art has the power to transform. In this sense, this research proposes that the performing arts face prejudice against the fat body, making theater a place of freedom to experiment with the powers of a fat body as it is.
