SUMMARY:
This dissertation aims to investigate in a transdisciplinary approach how dance and circus change when they work together, using the circus apparatus called cyr wheel. The circus emerges as a popular culture, repository of beliefs, myths, representations considered hitherto grotesque and spontaneous languages, without the rigor necessary to reach the artistic pattern, still far from the perfection of beauty, ideal predicted by classical culture. Circus art and artists are renowned for their miscegenation with various other artistic languages, including dance, which in turn is used as an element of cohesion and fun in the construction of circus shows and numbers. It can be said that there are processes of creation in contemporary circus shows that intersect the circus and dance, thus emerging a possible new language. Both arts have body and movement as essential elements in common. By reflecting the role of the body in the processes hybridized by the two areas and thinking about the possibilities of movement with the device used, it is possible to broaden the horizon of theoretical and methodological reflections present in the interface of performing scenic with other artistic languages. With a qualitative character and beyond bibliographic research, the following actions are being used as sources of data collection: documentary research, videographic analysis of the shows and semi-structured interviews, with semi-defined script, relating to my artistic experience.
