SUMMARY:

Social Assistance Policy is a social right inscribed in the Brazilian Federal Constitution and as a public policy it must serve those who need it, providing Services, Programs, Projects and Benefits. It is also a privileged socio-occupational space for professional activity. Given the Brazilian situation in our time, despite the intensification of the capital crisis, Social Assistance faces challenges in its materialization that range from financing to the daily deliveries of social assistance equipment responsible for its operation throughout the national territory. In the particularity of Natal-RN, we have important changes following the public tender held in 2016 – a year that coincides with the new type of coup and the developments in the situation until 2022, which also combines the destruction of social protection mechanisms by governments of extreme right at national and local level. Thus, what concerns us in unveiling this reality is the understanding of the Brazilian State which, given its class protagonism and its impositions – crossed and mediated by metamorphoses in the world of work, permanent fiscal adjustment and lack of social protection – demand the need to update the Social Service strategies in the daily routine of Basic Social Protection, at the risk of an emptying of professional work combined with the dismantling of PAS. In this sense, its general objective is to analyze the impacts of the ideopolitical directions of the PNAS on the work of the social worker who works within the scope of Basic Social Protection of SUAS in Natal-RN. We opted for the historical-dialectical materialist theoretical-methodological framework, given the need to grasp, in the movement of reality, the contradictions and mediations that interrelate the object of perspective in a perspective of totality. Therefore, a qualitative, bibliographic and documentary approach is proposed. In addition to the specialized critical mass of the area, the notes and notebooks of technical guidelines, legislation, reports extracted from electronic systems and databases, as well as the daily experience at SUAS is the research environment. Therefore, it intends to contribute to the professional debate on the topic to be revealed, persisting in the defense and consolidation of our Professional Political Ethics Project.
