The structural crisis of capital unleashed from 1970 onwards the process of restructuring capital as a bourgeois strategy to contain the tendency to fall in the rate of profit, as a reflection of this scenario, the neoliberal State re-updates its relations with Civil Society by transferring it to part of their responsibilities in the implementation of social policies. In Brazil, the counter-reform in health was consolidated from 1990 onwards, through the intensification of the commodification of services and the privatization of the newly created Unified Health System (SUS). In view of the above, this research aimed to analyze how the privatization of health is expressed through non-profit organizations that act as providers of oncological services in the municipality of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte. To this end, it sought to investigate the main trends of public-private “partnerships” in health in the State's counter-reform process; identify the benefits and advantages of the organizations that dominate the provision of oncological services in Natal; analyze the origin of the transfer and distribution of SUS public resources among the institutions that provide these services, and identify the oncological services that particularize the hegemony of the organizations when they are provided. It is, therefore, a quantitative and qualitative research, grounded in the light of critical social theory having its foundations in the historical-dialectical materialist method formulated by Karl Marx. It starts with a broad bibliographic review, followed by documentary research and data analysis using the Content Analysis technique. The results point to the deepening of the process of privatization of SUS through Civil Society Organizations, which expand vertiginously in the field of health, largely sustained with resources from the public fund. With regard to the provision of oncology services in the city of Natal, philanthropic organizations have historically held the provision of these services, however, they are consolidated and structured in the market based on the regulation of the SUS. Its expansion results from the commodification of health, the outsourcing of SUS services and resources and tax incentives from the State. This scenario expresses the urgency in resuming the process of political organization of workers, with a view to intensifying the struggle to guarantee health as a universal, integral, free and quality right, maintained and offered through institutions of the sector. State.

This research project seeks to apprehend the expressions of the (new) morphology of the work of Social Work at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) in the context of ultra-neoliberalism and the covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, with the delimitation of the 2016-2020 quinquennium. We will use critical social theory as the guiding principle of the approach, seeking to perceive social processes based on their historicity and dynamics, through successive approaches to reveal the essence of the object. Therefore, we will carry out a quantitative-qualitative research, through a permanent literature review, bibliographical and documentary research, as well as a semi-structured interview, sent online, with the social workers who make up the IFRN framework. In order to go deeper into the issues, we will carry out a focus group, with a sample of 30% of the total, online, in order to have a more interactive dialogue with professionals. We emphasize that the set of transformations that have taken place in capitalism and in the world of work have a major impact on professional work, with new redesigns in the various occupational spaces, especially in light of the new coronavirus pandemic scenario. Thus, it is expected that the study will contribute to discussions on the Fundamentals of Social Work, through considerations about professional work in education, providing opportunities for the expansion of existing debates, in addition to bringing the analysis of new elements that involve the object.

The proposed research aims to analyze how the implementation took place and what were the results of the student aid assistance in meeting the needs of students of popular origin of the UFRN undergraduate courses who needed this support. The aid was implemented during the social isolation and remote teaching measures required by the Covid-19 pandemic. The work seeks to analyze the implementation of said aid as part of the development of student assistance in the institution and during the pandemic, for this purpose it intends to analyze the profile of students of popular origin who were assisted by the aid in question; identify the main social needs of these students in the context of the pandemic; verify if the program was able to contribute to the academic trajectory of the beneficiary students. The method of analysis is the historical-dialectical materialism proposed by Marx, as it understands that, through it, it is possible to reveal the phenomena in their essence, their contradictions and dynamism. Thus, the research will have a qualitative character, in view of the need posed by the proposed object and to deepen the analysis. It will be in a documental and bibliographical research in the perspective of apprehending the object with regard to its universal and particular aspects, as well as better understanding the categories of analysis, the legal and institutional framework that deals with student assistance in Brazil and, specifically, at UFRN. It is considered that the relevance of the study is centered on the urgency of understanding and debating the university beyond a trainer of workers capable of acting in the labor market, but, fundamentally, as a space that drives the construction of subjects capable of critically reflect and intervene in reality; in contributing to the debate on student assistance at UFRN, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as its ability to respond to the needs of students of popular origin.

The dissertation presented here conducts a research on the impacts of the fiscal adjustment to the VI National Postgraduate Plan (PNPG), as well as its repercussions on the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) with regard to the context of postgraduate studies. This work has as specific objectives the following discursive elements: carry out a literature review on fiscal adjustment, science and technology and graduate studies; identify the impacts of the fiscal adjustment in the post-graduate context, considering the macroeconomic analysis based on the document analysis of data extracted from the Center for Society, University and Science Studies (SoU_Ciência), Pluriannual Plan (PPA) and Siga Brasil; and, finally, to analyze the UFRN budgets in the face of the counter-reform processes regarding postgraduate studies. In order for the results to be achieved, the research used a documentary and bibliographical survey in the light of historical-dialectical materialism, of a quantitative and qualitative nature, considering the perspective of totality when analyzing the information obtained. Thus, the results indicate that the impacts of the fiscal adjustment directly affect postgraduate policy in Brazil, especially in the functioning of public universities in the country, as is the case of UFRN.

The research that is embodied in the pages of this dissertation aims to analyze the incorporation of Antonio Gramsci's thought in the Northeastern Social Service, seeking to understand its influence on the participation of this region in the reconceptualization movement of the profession in Brazil. Thus, the choice for this object of study can be explained from three distinct but related directions. First, by the comprehension of the importance of Gramsci for the process of assimilation of the critical social theory within the Brazilian Social Service. On the other hand, by the empirical identification as to the significant quantity of Gramscian intellectuals of Social Service in the Northeast. And, finally, our choice is related to the recent tendency to study the profession in this regional particularity. In order to reach the general objective, we will analyze the dialogue between the Brazilian Social Service and Gramscian thought; we will analyze Social Service in the Northeastern region; we will attempt to understand the process of renovation of Social Service in the Northeast; and we will analyze the role of Social Service in the Northeastern region, especially in Maranhão, in the process of renovation of the profession in Brazil. Thus, the study was guided by the critical-dialectical investigative method of social theory and was carried out through bibliographic and documental research techniques. The theoretical basis of this study was based on the works of Antonio Gramsci, especially the Prison Notebooks, volumes one (1), two (2), three (3) and four (4), in which the debates on Hegemony, Intellectuals and State are anchored; the production of Carlos Nelson Coutinho: O leitor de Gramsci: Selected Writings; the work of Ivete Simionatto Gramsci: his theory, incidence in Brazil, influence on Social Service; the book Social Service in the Northeast: from origins to renewal, organized by Ana Elizabete Mota, Ana Cristina Vieira and Angela Amaral; and the ebook organized by Adilson Aquino Silveira Júnior, The historical reconstruction of Social Service in the Northeast. From this perspective, the results of the research indicate that Northeastern Social Service has been influential at a national level since the late 1950s, based on the Popular Education proposal of Paulo Freire, who at the time was a professor at ESSPE. Added to this, in the process of building the intention to break with traditionalism and, consequently, in the movement of renovation of the profession, between the 1970s and 1980s, one can verify, as a symbol of the Northeastern region, a greater projection and significant participation of Maranhão's Social Service, through the actions of the CSS/UFMA teachers. During this period, the "Maranhão group" meets the Gramscian thought, incorporating it to their theoretical-practical proposals and, as a result, deepening the knowledge about the critical-dialectical tendency. As a result, the UFMA teachers gain prominent positions in the rupture movement and undertake fundamental debates for the renewal and the reaching of maturity of the profession. In this sense, we can conclude that the dialogue with Gramsci encouraged and qualified the participation of the Northeast region, starting with UFMA, in the Reconceptualization Movement.

This research has as general objective to analyze the two main political strategies in dispute in the Brazilian left: the democratic-popular one and the socialist strategy. The perspective is to identify which conception of the LGBTI+ movement each one presents. For this, we will seek: 1. historicizing the emergence of these strategies: their programmatic elements, highlighting limits or possibilities of realization in the particularities of the dependent capitalist Brazilian reality; 2. analyze the existing relations between the political party and the LGBTI+ movement with regard to the social direction that it aligns itself in the political scene; 3. analyze which conception of the LGBTI+ movement is presented by the organizations surveyed, linked to the PT and the PCB and their respective strategies. The methodological procedure adopted refers to document analysis, in which we will analyze the following axes: conception of diversity, conception of socialism, class independence/autonomy and political insertion and interaction with the LGBTI+ movement. The period analyzed will be 2017/2021, post-coup period to the current situation. Considering the progress of the research, we have at the moment the following results: there are several similarities between the democratic-national strategy and the democratic-popular strategy that demonstrate the impossibility of carrying out the latter, as it is defended, in the Brazilian reality; the relations between political party and social movement must be understood because both contribute to strengthening the class political organization and to the deepening of themes and dimensions related to human diversity. The research results may contribute to the organization of the working class, with a view to reflecting on as has been the historical incorporation of human diversity in the political strategies of the Brazilian left.

This dissertation aims to analyze the increase in the incarceration of women in Rio Grande do Norte (RN), apprehending the mediations between Brazilian socio-historical determinations, the ongoing criminal policy in the country and class, racial and patriarchal gender relations. It starts from the assumption that incarceration in Brazil finds its roots in socio-historical determinations that date back to its socioeconomic formation and social relations marked by authoritarianism, racism and patriarchy. In this direction, the research problem is delimited by questioning how currently the set of structural mediations of the Brazilian socio-historical formation and patriarchal gender relations and the objectification of the ongoing criminal policy affect the increase in the incarceration of women, in particular, in the reality of Rio Grande do Norte. For this, a bibliographical research was carried out about the Brazilian socio-historical formation; the Marxist critique of law and the State; of criminal policy, incarceration and critical criminology; and patriarchal gender relations and their mediations with the justice system, situating the phenomenon of women's incarceration in the Brazilian reality in the context of the ultraneoliberal current situation. Documentary research was also carried out, with data from the half-yearly reports of the National Penitentiary Department – DEPEN and its Information System of the National Penitentiary Department – SISDEPEN. The time frame for the analysis was limited to the years 2006 to 2020. To respond to the posed problem, the existing mediations between the socio-historical determinations of incarceration in Brazil, racism as a structuring element of Brazilian social relations, patriarchal relations of gender and the current criminal policy. Thus, it was possible to discuss of the relationship between social production/reproduction and the phenomenon of women's incarceration in Brazil and its particularities in Rio Grande do Norte, in order to elucidate the increase in incarceration of this segment in the state. Information regarding the number of Brazilian penitentiary population between the years 2006 and 2020, and, of these, the number of women; the amount of prey per regimen; the total length of sentence to which they were sentenced; criminal classification; race/ethnicity, age group and schooling. Historical-dialectical materialism is adopted as a method of analysis in view of the instruments that make it possible to elucidate, in the set of the historical process of the incarceration of women in Brazil and its more concrete determinations, without disconnecting it from the organic whole that it integrates. Thus, it concluded on the deep connection between the historical racism of Brazilian society, the patriarchal gender relations, the criminalization of poverty and the punitive criminal policy of the neoliberal current in the country. The actions of the justice and criminal system, together with the elaboration of new penal legislation that expand criminalization, generated a great mass incarceration in the country, in which more and more women are being imprisoned every day. Mostly black, with incomplete primary education, young, and arrested for crimes related to drug trafficking and against property. The incarceration of women is historically situated and is gaining more and more density in contemporary reality, in view of the determinations of social, class, race and gender patriarchal relations.

This dissertation aims to investigate the impacts of patriarchy, which unfold on the life and professional performance of women civil engineers, installed in teaching at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). To this end, we use the critical social theory approach as a methodological subsidy to support the referred research. The elaborate study has a qualitative character, based on the assumption that in this way, we can better analyze non-quantifiable social phenomena. The methodological route chosen for the elaboration of this dissertation consisted of research and bibliographic review, which permeated the entire research process; An analysis of various documents, available on the internet, was also carried out, with the aim of capturing and analyzing the speeches of other women, inserted in Civil Engineering, in different segments; and also, the semi-structured interview technique, with previously established questions, with the purpose of guiding the dialogue, with 03 (three) women, with training in Civil Engineering, currently inserted in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - DECAM/UFRN. We showed that women were removed from different spheres of the public sphere and destined, for a long time, to activities in the private sphere, as a result of the emergence and rooting of patriarchal gender relations, aggravated in the capitalist/racist context. Education is, therefore, one of the spaces historically denied to women. Female work is marked by exclusion and devaluation, both in the productive sphere and in the reproductive sphere. The latter, which can occur both in the public and private sphere, is marked by gendered and racialized exploitation. Activities, socially considered as masculine, discarded, for many years, the presence of women, as is the case of Civil Engineering. However, nowadays, the number of women civil engineers has had a significant increase, both in training and in professional activities in various professional segments; which does not allow us to say that oppression and exploitation, based on gender, in these spaces, has dissipated. Thus, with this research, we intend to reveal the impacts of patriarchal gender relations, which permeate the daily lives of women, in teaching activities, in the Civil Engineering course - UFRN.

This work aims to apprehend the implications of the capitalist society in family and in the process of individuation regarding the expression of sexual diversity, as well as to analyze the relationship between the reproduction of prejudice against LGBTI people in the current context of advancement of conservatism and of covid-19 pandemic. It is assumed that there is a hegemonic family organization type founded upon private property, monogamist marriage and heteropatriarchy that implies, due to an array of determinations, the reproduction of oppression, as well as of violation of Human Rights and sexual diversity. In order to apprehend the relationship between hegemonic family in capitalism and sexuality, we characterize and analyze the main forms of violation in sexual diversity in family environment, which impose barriers to the process of individuality of LGBT sons and daughters. The research strategies adopted in order to collect and produce data combine: (1) Bibliographic research in which we continue the bibliographic review about the social role of family in capitalism; about the dialectical interactions among labor, the individuation process and human diversity, considering the relationships between family and the processes of individuation, of expressions of sexual diversity as well as of gender identity; (2) Conduction of semi-structured interviews with LGBTI+ persons and their mothers. We locate the research subjects (mothers and their LGBTI+ sons and daughters) in the project “Mothers for Diversity”, developed in the scope of CRDH/UFRN, of which I have participated in the context of the mandatory internship of the Social Work Graduate Program; and (3) Mapping the collective organizations of the movement “Mothers for Diversity” in Brazil, aiming to apprehend the resistance process that is being built so that families can be other than mere instruments in favor of the logic of social relationships of the burgeois world. The objective and subjective conditions of conducting the research must adapt to what some insist to label as the “new normal”, the atypical way of life which the world has been experiencing since March 2020 with the quarantine measures, as well as the barbaric situation imposed by capitalism which has intensified in the context of the pandemic, as economic interests are focused on the capital development to the detriment of life. Therefore, we intend to add the debate of our historic moment, especially the harmful life conditions of Brazilian people as a result of the economic, political and health crises, reinforced by the Bolsonaro rule.

This research analyzes the experience of social workers who used the participation and strengthening of social control of the Unified Health System (SUS) as a central mediation to provide answers to the real needs of users of the SUS in Natal in the context of facing COVID-19 in the years 2020 and 2021. The central object was to problematize social participation as a collective strategy adopted by social workers working in the Emergency Care Units (UPAs) and other institutions that make up the Urgency and Emergency Network (RUE) of the Municipal Health Secretary of Natal/RN (SMS/Natal) to confront COVID-19 in the reality of Natal/RN. The general objective was to map and give visibility to the main strategies and mediations adopted by social workers in the UPAS of the city of Natal in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, who articulated with the instances of social participation and social control of the social security system, and also articulated with social and popular movements; Systematize and give visibility to the main demands and respective responses that required articulation with the Municipal Health Council of Natal (CMS/Natal), as a collective subject of rights as a condition to enhance the effectiveness of health as a right of all and duty of the State; Reflect on the challenges faced by social workers in the UPAS of Natal. Based on the critical social theory, the methodological procedures used were: Literature review, document analysis and field research through the focus group methodology, whose information collection was preceded by free and informed consent of the participants. We verified that the articulations made by social workers with the CMS/Natal and the Movement of the Homeless Population (MPOPR/RN) resulted in joint action with the Council of Social Assistance of Natal/RN (CMAS-Natal), conquering the structuring of institutional responses of collective order, especially the construction of service protocols with a view to integral attention to the population that uses the SUS, among which is the speed of services for funeral and burial assistance as a citizenship right. We conclude that the experience of articulation of the Social Service team of UPA Oeste, with the instances of social control and with MPOPR/RN, was fundamental to ensure effective intersectoral articulation between SUS, SUAS and the System of Rights Assurance, including the Public Ministry, Judiciary, registry offices, This resulted in the implementation of flows, routines, and protocols capable of overcoming the mere adoption of case-by-case responses, advancing toward institutionalized responses of a collective order covering all citizens in the same situation. This is the reason why we characterize it as a successful experience having social participation as the central measure, as recommended by the Parameters of Professional Action for Social Workers.

This article is based on a discussion about self-inflicted violence - self-mutilation, attempted suicide and suicide - in the municipality of Parnamirim/RN, in the current context of deepening neoliberalism, fiscal adjustment and conservatism. Directed by neoliberal policy since the 1990s in Brazil, fiscal adjustment has ferociously usurped public funds, satisfying the interests of big business, most acutely in the period following the 2016 coup. A contemporary reality has emerged, marked by setbacks in social rights, the exacerbation of the social question, psychological suffering and illness, the dismantling of social protection and health equipment, as well as a return to conservatism in dealing with mental health. Given this scenario, the general objective of the research was to analyze the increase and recurrence of self-inflicted violence in Parnamirim/RN in the context of fiscal adjustment, conservatism and the post-coup period, with a view to highlighting the factors that contribute to triggering this reality. As a result, the specific objectives were: a) to understand the expressions of fiscal adjustment and conservatism in the increase and recurrence of self-inflicted violence in Parnamirim, in the post-coup period; b) to identify the factors that most contribute to the increase and recurrence of self-inflicted violence in the population of Parnamirim; and c) to understand the operationalization of the Mental Health Policy in the face of the increase and recurrence of self-inflicted violence in Parnamirim in the post-coup period. The time frame covered the period from January 2016 to April 2022. In order to grasp the object in its entirety, the research was based on the historical-dialectical materialist method, and was developed based on bibliographical reviews, documentary and field research, with a quantitative-qualitative approach. The bibliographical reviews covered analytical categories such as: structural crisis of capital, neoliberalism, fiscal adjustment, public funds, financial capital, psychic suffering, psychic illness, mental health policy and self-inflicted violence. The documentary research was guided by previous scripts, by type of document analyzed, in order to capture the elements that involve situations of self-inflicted violence in Parnamirim, in the post-coup scenario of 2016. The field research took the form of semi-structured collective interviews with professionals working in the municipality's mental health policy, and aimed to capture their understanding of how the policy operates in the face of self-inflicted violence. The data collected was analyzed using content, documentary and statistical analysis. The study was submitted to and approved by the Research Ethics Committee. The results showed an intrinsic relationship between the growth and recurrence of self-inflicted violence in Parnamirim, the permanent fiscal adjustment and conservatism, which intensified after the coup, since the motivations analyzed for self-mutilation, suicide attempts and suicides were related to the intensification of psychic suffering and/or psychic illness exacerbated in the current scenario of precarious living and working conditions for the working class. The increase in psychological suffering and illness in the municipality was observed based on the growth in the volume of care provided by CAPS II, Children's CAPS and UPA Nova Esperança. Added to this are the repercussions of the psychiatric counter-reform in the PSM of Parnamirim, through the conservative and manicomial resumption of care, with reinforcement for outpatient, focused care, the encouragement of medicalization, hospitalization, medical centrality and the eternal dependence of users on these services.

The present research is based on discussions about social security, particularly social security in the current situation of setbacks in rights, where we have been faced with processes of productive and organizational restructuring of work with strong impacts and changes in work processes, more precisely, the effects of such offensives expressed in the changes occurring with the introduction and implementation of new technologies (INSS Digital, MY INSS, Central 135, etc.) currently experienced within the INSS and, in particular, in the Security Social Service and the rights of the population. It aims to analyze the impacts of technological restructuring in the INSS from the introduction of INSS DIGITAL, and specifically to investigate the expressions of the counter-reform process of the State in the particularity of Social Security; and Apprehend the challenges and possibilities of the new digital. As methodology, we present a study based on the dialectical method; having as research support documentary, with a quanti-qualitative approach. The main conclusion of the study is that the mechanisms established by INSS DIGITAL are detrimental to the democratization of social security rights, due, among other factors, to the unequal conditions of access to TICs for the population. The technologization of work processes at the INSS has also not yet led to speeding up processes, in addition to strongly interfering with the working conditions of workers. We therefore advocate a welfare model that is configured as a solid, solidary, collective political aimed at social justice and the rule of law.

The research presented here develops a discussion about the homeless population in capitalism. The objective is to analyze the aforementioned population phenomenon and its relationship with the process of capital accumulation, based on the work Capital by Karl Marx. Specifically, this dissertation seeks to: I) problematize the process of capitalist accumulation associated with the process of economic exploitation; II) investigate the origin and functionality of the relative overpopulation or industrial reserve army; and III) analyze the homeless population in the Brazilian territory, highlighting particularities of the phenomenon in Natal/RN. Faced with the need to apprehend the essence of the object of study and achieve the stated purposes, this research was guided by the dialectical-critical method and is constituted as a theoretical research of a qualitative nature, subsidized by techniques of bibliographic survey and documentary research. It should be noted that the proposed incursion was based on the development and theoretical foundation of the work Capital, especially chapters 23 and 24 of book I – The general law of capitalist accumulation and The so-called primitive accumulation, respectively. However, the importance of other chapters present in Book I and Book III of that work is not minimized. The research results point to an intrinsic relationship between the capitalist mode of production and the homeless population, because it is a phenomenon that comes from the working mass that is relatively superfluous to the needs of capital. Relative overpopulation is considered functional to the process of capitalist accumulation and, for this reason, it is possible to observe its uninterrupted production since the stage of primitive accumulation of capital, when capitalism was structured at the expense of direct producers – expropriated of their lands and means of production. subsistence and forcibly thrown into the salaried system for the sale of their own labor power. The incompatibility between the number of manpower able to be sold and jobs available to absorb workers was analyzed as the spur to the generalization of pauperism and accelerated reproduction of the homeless population. The population phenomenon analyzed in this research, part of the relative overpopulation, is found mostly in the sphere of the lumpenproletariat and in the stagnant layer. In view of this, the sale of the workforce of the homeless population is faced with misfortunes and is seen, most of the time, restricted to the possibilities of precarious work and the practice of begging, since the insertion of people who use the street as a place to live and support in the formal job market is negligible.

The particularities of the health sector become a space where discussion about interprofessional work is necessary, considering its intense process of specialization between professional categories and procedures. Therefore, discussing this topic is fundamental, given the effects produced by the new morphology of work and the scrapping of public services. Factors that intensify through neoliberal ideas that increasingly compromise the legitimacy of social rights and labor relations. From this perspective, the research sought to analyze interprofessional work in mental health services in the city of Parnamirim/RN, in order to provoke reflection on reality and contribute to this practice being absorbed as a fundamental element in these devices. It also sought to analyze the organization of work in mental health services in the aforementioned municipality, as well as to understand its particularities, identify the main challenges for its implementation given the current situation of Brazilian society and identify the understanding of mental health professionals about work in its interprofessional modality. To this end, research was carried out with an emphasis on a quantitative-quantitative approach, guided by the dialecticalcritical method. It started from a bibliographical review and primary data collection carried out through semi-structured interviews with the professionals who make up the service teams, with data analysis carried out using the Content Analysis technique (Bardin). In this study, it was possible to identify that a large part of the devices are based on multidisciplinary work, without necessarily exercising interprofessionality, as they remain focused on individual actions, without exchanges and integrated actions between professionals. The challenges revealed express the fragility of the municipality of Parnamirim/RN in maintaining the recommendations of the National Mental Health Policy, given the structural and functional precariousness of RAPS devices, with intense consequences for work relations and the quality of care offered. This situation points to a complex and challenging scenario for the materialization of interprofessional work, considering the absence of an organized, effective and resolute health network, which guarantees continuous and articulated actions and services.

The professional work carried out by Social Workers inserted in the field of mental health, as an object of study, has increasingly become an essential and urgent need for problematization in the academic field and in daily professional life. The apprehension of the particularities that involve this professional insertion becomes relevant in several aspects, because from this reflection it is possible to understand the limits, challenges and possibilities experienced in the socio-occupational spaces that these professionals are inserted in.). Connected to this problematization, it is important to reflect on the competences and professional attributions that are performed by this professional category, which makes it essential for the process of production and reproduction of social relations in the sociability of capital, considering the repercussions in the context of the new morphology of work. From this perspective, the study aimed to analyze the competences and attributions of Social Workers carried out at work within the scope of the mental health policy in the city of Natal/RN in order to apprehend the challenges posed by the new morphology of work. Its locus of study was the devices of the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) in the city of Natal/RN, which has Social Workers in its professional staff. The research had a methodological approach of the quantitative and qualitative type, it was based on the dialectic-critical method and developed in three specific stages: the literature review, documental and field research. With this production, the main results were the need for a theoretical-conceptual deepening of the professionals about the proposed problematizations, including the sharpness in the distinction between professional competences and private attributions; particularities in mental health; elements of convergence between the ideas of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform and the foundations of the Ethical-Political Project of Social Work and on the new morphology of work. Through this research, reflection was also raised on the importance of producing knowledge related to suffering and/or psychosocial illness within the scope of the sociability of capital, given that this process of illness presents complex and multifaceted determinations, which reflect on the materiality and in people's subjectivity and result in physical and/or psychosocial illnesses.

This dissertation analyzes the relationships and working conditions of the social worker's professional practice in the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of Parnamirim/ RN, during the pandemic period, identifying the consequences of precarious work, social policies and offensive of capital associated with the Covid-19 health crisis that reflects on daily professional life. The research was carried out under the guidance of historical-dialectical materialism, whose methodological path started from a bibliographical research, based on a literature review; through documentary research, by consulting legislation, the guidelines of the CFESS-CRESS set and institutional documents; and in the field, when applying a questionnaire with open and closed questions to the institution's social workers, considering the appropriation of qualitative and quantitative research. The study revealed that the precariousness of work and social policies, especially health policy linked to the pandemic situation, affected the objective and subjective conditions of the working class as a whole, and, consequently, of social workers, since they also do part of the working class. In the conclusive approaches, it was observed that professional limits and possibilities are placed in the daily professional life of social workers who work at the UPA of Parnamirim/RN, given the lack of physical structure consistent with regulations and reality. of the municipality that affects professional work; in the face of the veiled privatization underway with the outsourcing process at the institution, which has repercussions on working relationships and conditions and has implications for collective work. In addition to the subsidiary character that the profession carries in the socio-technical division of labor, which comes from the historical process, and which was reinforced in the pandemic by the discourse of the “exceptional character” of actions in the face of public calamity, in the face of acting under crossfire, as pointed out the research data. On the other hand, it was relevant that resistance and collective confrontations towards the professional ethical-political project can contribute to minimizing and imposing barriers to impasses for a critical-reflective professional exercise, towards the quality of services provided to the population. In this sense, the defense of ethical and technical conditions, mediated by professional competencies and attributions, stands as a professional compass, collectively articulated with the category, with the representative bodies and the defense of social rights, which are in dispute on a daily basis and are affected by socio-historical, political and economic conditions, added to the social and class struggle in defense of a new sociability

The research that gave structure to this dissertation has as its central objective to analyze the process of sexual division of politics in the Settlements in the Alto Sertão Paraibano, based on the participation of women in the struggle for land in Brazil. We propose a historical review since the 1960s and the contemporary debate on the Brazilian agrarian struggle and the particularities of the northeast region; in which we analyze the process of formation of settlements in the Alto Sertão Paraibano with the presence of women who built stories of resistance, imbued with stubbornness, resisting in collective organizations defending gender equality, in the fight for a free land. The text also presents the debate on critical and left-wing feminism in the Marxist field, with the intensification of the category of peasant and popular feminism, which has been constructed based on the reality of peasant women. The discourse starts from the analysis of theoretical categories such as patriarchy, patriarchal gender relations, sexual division of labor and politics, as they are fundamental for understanding the socio-historical, economic and political divisions of inequalities between the sexes. As a methodology, we present a study based on the dialectical method, supported by investigation, field and bibliographical research and field observation, with a qualitative approach. The field research was carried out through semi-structured interviews, with open questions with 05 (five) settled women who participated in the entire struggle process of the Nova Vida I Settlement, located in the municipality of Aparecida-PB, in the Alto Sertão Paraibano. The research identified that women's political participation is affected by their interdiction in decision-making and power spaces, as a result of the unequal sexual division of politics that continues to strengthen the confinement of women in the domestic space. The research also presents the challenge of thinking about the political organization of peasant women based on the principle of self-organization in autonomous movements, as a way of confronting the subjection caused by mixed organizations such as underrepresentation and functions directed by sex.

The recent and contradictory expansion of outpatient clinics for the Transvestite and Transsexual population (TT Outpatient Clinics) in the Unified Health System (SUS) during a period of advances in neoconservatism and setbacks in rights, demonstrates the need to develop studies that make it possible to understand this reality in a critical manner. Therefore, the present investigation has as its central objective to analyze the right to health of the trans population in Natal/RN through the TT Outpatient Clinic in the context of the advancement of neoconservatism. With regard to theoretical-methodological aspects, we carried out field research with a qualitative approach, supported by the historical-dialectical materialist method, which had as its investigation locus the TT Outpatient Clinic in Natal/RN. We used semi-structured interviews and document analysis as data collection instruments, using as sources: the main ordinances of the Ministry of Health on the transsexualization process; the resolutions of the Federal Council of Medicine; the National LGBT Comprehensive Health Policy; and other relevant documents and as subjects the trans user population of the TT Outpatient Clinic, the professionals and managers from the municipal network of Natal involved in the transsexualization process, as well as representatives of civil society, through the municipal and state councils for the rights of the LGBTI+ population, who participated in the process of creating the TT Outpatient Clinic. The SUS, despite being a universal health system, has not always taken care of different population segments as part of its actions, which have historically been made invisible and treated with prejudice and discrimination, the trans population being one of them. The creation of the TT Outpatient Clinic presents itself as a conquered right that was the result of a long process of dispute by the State and that, even marked by contradictions, is part of this power dynamics among societal projects. Through our analysis we can state that with the creation of the TT Outpatient Clinic there is a process that results in contributions for users, professionals, for the SUS itself, for public policies and for society. However, this process is also marked by challenges, namely: challenges in access to hormones, challenges in the expansion of the transsexualization process, difficulties in intersectoral articulation, organizational challenges faced by the SUS and the TT Outpatient Clinic in Natal and limitations related to human resources. We hope that this study can contribute to greater visibility of health policies for the trans population, for their strengthening and the recognition of the challenges that still need to be overcome, while also highlighting the construction of an experience that represents an accumulation concerning the legitimation of trans individuals as citizens and political subjects of rights.

The prohibitionism may be understood as a set of conventions and legislations that guide the action of the states in terms of determined drugs, understood here as psychoactive substances shown in the illegality. However, this goes beyond because it changes the other possible ways of relating such substances, making them essentially negative to the society. The reasons for its consolidation present several nuances that pass by political, economic and moral issues. Although the United States is the main responsible by the militarized face of the prohibitionism, since the so called “war on drugs”, they are national laws that make this ideology a rare case of world consensus, with the exceptions that don´t escape to the resistances and the socio-historical correlations of each country. Among the researchers, the term drug comes to be used to denominate the substances able to act over the central nervous system. Among the researchers, this term possibly came from the dutch “droog”, which meant dry products. Anthropological studies have shown the value of the use of such substances during the history of the humanity, being used in curative, ritualistic and eating processes. Since the moment that the merchandise becomes the fundamental element from the capitalist mode of production, everything tends to become such as, thus this happened with the drugs that became to be part of their circuits. The reach of the prohibitionist policies comes to be constantly questioned because the enlargement of the trade of drugs has not been reciprocated to the central objectives. Nevertheless, these policies became as a volatile way to criminalize determined social groups and intensify the policies of penal control and of combating them. Beyond these state coercive forces, other phenomena intertwine to this issue, in order to know: the dispute by the command of the territories such as the commerce, passage and the circulation of drugs. It is in this point that it presents itself to the possible particularity of the northeast region of Brazil. It stands out that the fundamentals for this research came from the critics of the political economy. In terms of the strategies of investigation, bibliographic research was performed, whose objective was to synthesize the aspects related to the issue of drugs, to the place of the drugs and the possible particularities of the war against the drugs and the documental research, prioritizing the analysis of the Atlas da Violência e do Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública in the years of 2017 to 2022. This choice had as a criterion the raise of the number of homicides in the northeast region, being these ones, in a large measure associated to the traffic of drugs. It is pointed preliminarily, for the existence of regional particularities in terms of the strategic geopolitical position; the disparities in terms of the social indicators and the perpetuated inequalities, that manifest themselves in multiplex expressions of the social issues; the police and punitive increment, besides the disputes by the commands of the commerce and the circulation of drugs. These disputes have become signaled as the fuse for the increase of the number of homicides in the region.

This study addresses the issue of mental suffering among the working class within the context of a capitalist society and its contemporary expressions, which intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to analyze the mental health deterioration of male and female workers as an expression of a contemporary social issue and the possible solutions to face it, using the reality of the state of Ceará as reference. We assume that workers’ mental health deterioration represents a contemporary social problem and that there is a lack of support that violates the right to universal, full and timely access, jeopardizing the users’ health, a phenomenon that requires comprehensive understanding and assessment. For that reason, this paper adopts a social determination of health perspective based on critical social theory. Methodologically, we analyzed the exacerbation processes of exploitation and alienation, which are more complex and vicious in the new management methods of the post-Fordist industry, making the working class more susceptible to mental health issues amid evolving work dynamics in the flexible era. Thus, the study identifies the aggravation within the labor counter reform context combined with the nefarious effects of the pandemic, which leads to the exacerbation of work corrosion with even more harmful effects to the life quality of the working class, directly affecting the increase in mental health conditions related to work and the lack thereof. Our hypothesis is that the pandemic has enabled new precariousness and weakening strategies for work relationships, exacerbated by a general context of structural unemployment as an expression of the capital accumulation crisis. Thus, the pandemic has been viciously exploited by the capital as an opportunity to accelerate its offensive, justifying and deepening unemployment, insecurity, precariousness and flexibility, while framing exposure to risk as a solution to an economic crisis reduced to a health crisis. In order to meet the proposed objectives, we combined documentary and empirical research of a quantitative-qualitative nature, focusing on the Health Department of the State of Ceará. Documentary research and a focus group with the CEREST/CE technical team were conducted. Quantitative research was also part of the methodological procedures given the need to analyze epidemiological and statistical data that characterize the current scenario of the world of work in order to unravel the interconnections of the mental health and work dichotomy. We conclude that, in face of the impossibility of overcoming the mental health deterioration of the working class within the capitalist order, precisely due to the fact that it characterizes the contemporary expression of the social issue permeated by the inherent contradiction between capital and work, the protection of work results in the correlation of social fight and forces, requiring strong governmental intervention in order to guarantee the implementation of public policies capable of responding to this public health and social demand, especially in the aim of overcoming the challenge of the insipient assistance work and underreporting. We found that the setbacks in workers’ physical and mental health under the Bolsonaro government, especially during the pandemic, hindered initiatives by state and municipal governments to implement the National Worker Health Policy, as per Ordinance 1.823/2012. Despite this challenging context, we identified that Ceará has made strides in formalizing public policies for workers with mental health disorders related to work, albeit in an embryonic stage, indicating recognition of this social issue but not yet constituting state policy.

This thesis is about Preceptorship in Social Work at University Hospitals in the Northeast, run by the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH). This is a public company regulated under private law. Transferring the management and execution of the UH's hospital facilities to EBSERH for an undetermined period of time disrupts the eminently public nature of the University and allows the private sector's logic to prevail in this scenario. Therefore, being part of a University Hospital, whose management is under the responsibility of a company ruled by privatist logic, raises concerns and the necessity to reflect on the work of the social worker in preceptorship in an institutional setting in which care takes precedence over teaching. In this context, the general objective of this thesis is to analyze preceptorship in Social Work in the Multiprofessional Residency Programs in the Northeast region linked to the University Hospitals managed by EBSERH. It presents the following specific objectives: to map the academic-professional profile of the social workers who are preceptors in the Residency Programs of the UHs managed by EBSERH in the Northeast region; to identify the working conditions and relations of this group; and to analyze how preceptorship is developed in this space. The research was guided by the dialectical historical materialist method. Regarding the methodology, it consists of a bibliographical review and explanatory research, addressed to 52 reference preceptors from 09 UHs, through a form with a mixed approach, made available through the google forms digital platform. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of HUOL/UFRN and by the Ethics Committees of MEAC/UFC and HUPAA - co-participating institutions that required their own committees. The participation of the 25 professionals was voluntary. The data collected was examined using the Content Analysis method. The research confirmed that preceptorship has been consolidated as a space for replicating technicist practices, as a sidelined activity due to the primacy of care over teaching in the context of the HUs. It is thus necessary to define a policy for supporting and promoting this activity, in order to encourage health education and enhance the quality of training and research integrated with care services.
