SUMMARY:
The decomposition of labor in its ontological sense and the sharpening of the expressions of the social issue make the social and economic inequality characteristic of the Capitalist Mode of Production increasingly evident, which are configured as an object of intervention for Social Work. The implication of this socioeconomic system can be expressed in several ways, such as the difficulty for male and female workers to guarantee the means for the reproduction of their labor power and their degradation in the physical and mental sense. In this sense, this study aims to understand what are the mediations between the intensification of job insecurity and mental illness in the process of reproduction of the labor force in Brazil at the beginning of the 21st century. More specifically, it intends to: analyze the State of the Art of Social Work regarding the themes of mental health, workers' health and workers' mental health in the last ten years; examine the main indicators of mental illness of the working class in Brazil; and elaborate a critique of the debate about mental illness of the working class in its relation to the work of social workers. To achieve what was proposed, the methodology was based on a bibliometric and documental study of worldwide organizations. The analysis had as its theoretical matrix the critical-dialectical materialism and as technique of analysis the Content Analysis. At this point, the methodological path is described, as well as a rehearsal of the next steps.
