SUMMARY:

The research outlined here has as its main objective to carry out an analysis of the incorporation of Antonio Gramsci's thought in Marilda Iamamoto's theoretical production. The choice of the object of study is verified by the understanding, firstly, of Gramsci's importance in the process of assimilation of critical social theory in the scope of Social Work; and, in addition, in view of Marilda Iamamoto's relevance to the achievement of the intellectual maturity of the profession. In this sense, in order to reach the general objective: which Gramscian categories are most expressed in the productions of Marilda Iamamoto will be investigated; which Gramsci's works are used as a reference to the author's formulations; and, still, the incorporation of the thought of the Italian Marxist author in the Brazilian Social Work will also be analyzed, especially in the context of the process of renewal of the profession. Therefore, the study will be guided by the critical-dialectical investigative method of social theory and will be carried out through a bibliographic research, using the technique of content analysis by Bardin (2004). In this perspective, the works of Marilda Iamamoto: Social Relations and Social Service in Brazil are used as collection material for the research; Renewal and Conservatism in Social Work: Critical Essays (1982); Social Work in contemporary times: work and professional training (1992); Work and social individual (2001); and Social Work in a time of fetish capital: financial capital, work and social issues (2007). In turn, the theoretical foundation of this study will be fundamentally based on the works of Antonio Gramsci, especially the Prison Notebooks volumes one (1), two (2), three (3) and four (4), in which anchor debates on Hegemony, Intellectuals and State; the production of Carlos Nelson Coutinho: Gramsci's reader: chosen writings; and the work of Ivete Simionatto Gramsci: its theory, incidence in Brazil, influence on Social Work. In view of this, the research presented here intends to contribute to the debate within the scope of Social Work and to boost it.
