SUMMARY:

The debate on professional work has been configured as one of the essential themes for problematization in the academic and professional scope, because through this discussion it is possible to reveal how the work of Social Workers has been carried out in the various occupational spaces and to apprehend which competencies and professional attributions are performed by this professional category that makes it essential for the process of production and reproduction of social relations in the sociability of capital. In this perspective, the following study aims to analyze the competences and attributions of Social Workers exercised at work within the scope of the mental health policy in the city of Natal/RN in order to contribute to the realization of the Ethical-Political Project of Social Service (PEPSS). Its locus of study is the devices of the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) in the city of Natal/RN, which has Social Workers in its professional staff. The research has a methodological approach of the quanti-qualitative type, that is, it involves both the quantitative and the qualitative character, however, it highlights its particularities. It is based on the dialectical-critical method and will be developed in three specific stages: literature review, documental and field research. With this production, it is intended to contribute to the recognition and strengthening of Social Work in the field of mental health, through the understanding of competences and professional attributions with interprofessional teams; reflections on the social direction of the PEPSS in the devices of the RAPS in Natal/RN; provision of subsidies for interventions in occupational spaces; reflection on themes such as work, precariousness (of work and social policies); Social Work as a specialization of collective work inserted in capitalist sociability, among other themes relevant to the study and that will certainly bring contributions to the set of workers inserted in the mental health policy in the city of Natal/RN.
