SUMMARY:

The work presented here aimed to analyze violence against trans women during the Bolsonaro government. For this purpose, it had as specific objectives: to analyze the specificities of violence committed against Brazilian Trans women in relation to cis women; analyze the strategies and limits of policies to combat violence against the LGBTI+ population during the Bolsonaro government; identify and analyze the resistance actions of Trans women during the first two years of the Bolsonaro government. The study used a qualitative approach, constituting a documentary and bibliographic study. Among the documents analyzed are: the reports from the years 2019 and 2020 of the Gay Group of Bahia (GGB) which analyzes crimes of violence against the LGBTI+ population Brazilian; the Dossiers on murders and violence against Brazilian Transvestites and Transsexuals in the year 2019 and 2020, authored by ANTRA (National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals); the documents (reports, ordinances, projects) of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights (MMFDH), during the years 2019 and 2020, dealing with violence against the LGBTI+ population and the reports of the Brazilian Yearbook of Public Security produced during the Bolsonaro government to address violence against women. The data show that there was an increase in the number of murders of trans women in 2020 compared to 2019. We found that 78% of trans women victims of violent death are black or mixed race. While in 2020, 71.5% of transfemicide took place in public places, 54% of femicide took place in victims' homes. In 72% of the cases the aggressor of trans women was their client, but in the case of cis women, 54% of the murders took place in their homes, with their aggressor in 89.9% of the cases being their partners. Regarding the weapons used, while 55.1% of the feminicides that took place in 2020 were “blade weapons”, in the transfeminicides in the same period, firearms were used in 47% of the cases. It is therefore concluded that violence against trans women has intensified during the Bolsonaro government and that there are specificities in relation to the violence committed against cis women.
