SUMMARY:

This project intends to outline the research for the construction of my master's degree dissertation. The research aims to investigate the social implications resulting from the inadequate handling and disposal of solid waste regarding the living, working and organizational conditions of women collectors of recyclable materials in Brazil, with reference to those who participate in the Rede Recicla Seridó, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. The objective is to analyze how patriarchal gender relations are structured in the daily lives of these recyclable material collectors, considering that women are even more exposed than men to social and economic vulnerabilities aggravated by patriarchal gender inequalities. The object analysis will be guided from dialectical historical materialism, to enable the apprehension of the aspects in their totality, from a qualitative research centered on field research, which will have as instruments, observation and focus group, anchored in wide literature review concerning the theme. The intention is to unveil the object's appearances and perceive it in its concrete reality. The collected data will be selected, deepened and interpreted through the readings and by the work's central analysis categories. The research questions, objectives and content of bibliographic, documentary, observation and focus group material will be dealt with content analysis techniques and procedures. The information acquired in this process will result in my master's degree dissertation, which will have the purpose of contributing to the academic and professional formation of Social Work, with society and with women collectors of recyclable materials, showing ways to face the difficulties related to the management of these materials, aiming to assist in the construction of a fairer society, without exploitation and domination of class, race and patriarchal gender relations, in which human well-being is above economic aspects.
