SUMMARY:

The thesis presented here has as its central category of analysis the human needs discussed based on the contribution of the Hungarian philosopher and member of the Budapest School, Agnes Heller. The justification of the study in question is mainly related to the fact that, despite being significantly used, Hellerian production on human needs is still a field of unknowns in the theoretical production of Social Work. In this sense, we question what Agnes Heller's contribution on human needs and how the category of radical needs is situated in the Hellerian debate, trying to identify whether it is possible to articulate the debate on human and radical needs from Heller to the Marxian theoretical framework. Therefore, with this study we aim in general to analyze human needs from the contribution of Agnes Heller, specifically analyzing the context, composition and importance of the Budapest School; addressing the life and work of Agnes Heller; and critically discussing the main works on the topic of human needs. To reach this end, we use the Marxian dialectical critical method as an analysis perspective, and as qualitative procedures, bibliographic research techniques of a qualitative nature, from the use of primary and secondary sources, through readings and records of materials available in the medium. electronic or in physical copies. We support the idea that the development of the Theory of Needs in the Hellerian work demonstrates that there was a process of approaching and moving away from Marx and Marxism, resulting in a production that absorbed several philosophical influences of thought, as well as reflection on the main historical events of the twentieth century and in particular the context experienced in the Hungarian social formation, resulting in an eclectic production on the theme, which constitutes its own theory of needs.
