SUMMARY:

In this project, which is inserted in the research area: Sociability, Social Work and Social Politics, and in the line of research: Ethic, Gender, Culture and Diversity, we propose to analyse the empowerment conception and its inflexions over feminism in the neoliberal context. We will start with the analysis of the theorical-political fundaments of the empowerment notion and its diferences and implications in relation to the class conciousness complex; we will apprehend and analyze the female empowerment logic as a condition of financing of feminist movements by international organizations; and lastly we will problematize the female empowerment as a confronting strategy against conservadorism in Brazil. The study object demanded the apprehension of theorical fundaments about sex patriarchal relations, that along with sex/gender and ethnic/race relations constitute a complex consubstantiated that reproduces and coproduces simultaneously. Subsequently, we discuss about the historicity of feminist struggles for overcoming the oppressions that characterize the women conditions in capitalism, whose materiality is expressed in work sexual division. It was yet necessary to analyze the black feminist thought and the particularities which characterize black women struggles, and its proximity with the female empowerment perspective. Following the investigation process, we seek to apprehend, still initially, the class conciousness process and the absence or insuficiency of appropriation of the question of conciousness by the empowerment perspective. Hence, we identify the limits and contradictions of the female empowerment, when used as a last strategy for overcoming women oppression, may result in a political-theorical pitfall specially in the neoliberal conjuncture. Thus, it was necessary studying about the origin, tendencies and the neoliberal theorical and practical-political limitations. We identify its maintenance functionality of capitalist society and strengthening of the market logic, as well as the co-optation relation that has characterized part of the feminist movement in its neoliberal face. In the continuity of the research, we aim to identify the inflexions of those pitfalls which affect the feminist struggles in a context of capitalism development, particularly in the Brazilian context. The investigation strategies used will be bibliographic and documentary analysis. This last one will be specifically performed in relation to the production of four feminist collectives with national insertion: Articulation of Brazilian Women, World Women March, Peasant Women's Movement and Fight Women Movement. Along with documents/publications produced by United Nations Organization, the Economic Comission for Latin America and the Caribbean, and by the Work International Organization. Our survey period comprehends the years 1995-2020, which coincide with the years of the most objectification of neoliberalism in Brazil to the current days: the beginning of Fernando Henrique Cardoso government to the government of Jair Messias Bolsonaro.
