SUMMARY:

The present research proposal aims to analyze, in the context of the contemporary debate about pluralism in the profession, the concept of pluralism expressed by the Conselho Federal de Serviço Social (CFESS) for Brazilian Social Work. In the profession, pluralism presents itself as an essential element of professional training and practice. However, even though this seems like a peaceful territory, there are clashes related to this dimension. In the current context of uncertainties with regard to their conceptual approaches, as well as the occurrence of a plurality of pluralisms, situating how the category's representative bodies (and more specifically the CFESS) formally conceive it is, therefore, a crucial step to understand how it materializes in the profession. For the development of this study, we will carry out, based on an ontological approach, a qualitative bibliographical and documentary research of an explanatory nature. The bibliographic research will focus, with the help of a script, on the following works: Souza (2014), Forti (2017), Prates (2018) and Oliveira (2017). The choice was made from the appearance of articles in five A1 journals in the area, also taking into consideration, for the choice of all, an approximation with our object of study, and, for the choice of the last work, the divergence criterion. Documentary research, in turn, also with the help of a script, will analyze fifteen (15) sources of CFESS, distributed in seven types: publication, article, report, process, letter, CFESS Manifesta and resolution. After a search on its website, from where we selected, of the approximately one hundred and thirty (130) results, initially seventy-six (76), these were chosen because they are the most illuminating regarding the organ’s concept of pluralism. Both samples were selected based on a temporal criterion related to the Council's last four administrations (2008-2020, except the present year, due to the fact that it is the development of our study). We hope, with this research, to contribute, among other issues, to the strengthening of pluralism in the profession, increasing the scarce existing production on this theme in contemporary times.
