SUMMARY:

The present doctoral research subscribes as a thesis that has proposed to investigate in scientific terms, through Critical Social Theory, the fundamentals present in capitalism that determine the constitution and deepening of labor precarization for Brazilian actors and actresses as a mechanism of capital accumulation, considering its structural character, as well as the elements that are re-actualized in contemporaneity. To that end, it is constituted as qualitative research that, through documentary and bibliographical analysis, in addition to the application of semi-structured interviews, is based on the premise that labor is the founding category of the social self, an analysis that speaks to the genesis and societal transformations that took place starting in the 1970’s and, especially in Brazil, around the 1990’s, considering in them, the consequences of the capitalist crisis and the context of productive restructuring and loss of rights, that lead to mechanisms of (re)production of a workforce that is essentially made precarious: the category of Brazilian actors and actresses. It is relevant, therefore, the development of this study given the expansion of pauperism, unemployment, and of comprehensive forms of precarization and deregulation of labor in the world and, in Brazil, objects of Social Work intervention and analysis, with the important framework in the post legal-congressional and mediatic coup that took place in 2016, given the implementation of an ostensible counter-reform project, that attack, mainly, the labor and social security sectors, a strategic measure for the continued accumulation of neoliberal capital. The research also analyzed the upsurge of conservatism in Brazil that was made evident by the rise of president Jair Bolsonaro to the presidency which puts in ascension a period of irrationality and of subjectivism in the economic, social, political and cultural realms, as well as, caused a (re)actualization of censorship in the arts and culture with important consequences for the subjects involved in artistic work. Based on that, in retrieving and problematizing the process of specific and differentiated socio-historical formation of the country, one ends up equally analyzing the historical course of cultural policy and, with that, the analysis of the State as a core element in this process, in the sense of the existing relationship between labor precarization of actors/actresses and State action in providing cultural public policy, also considering the current context of the withdrawal of its duties, the intensification of the social issue and the furthering of capitalist barbarism. Lastly, it was assessed, in a counter-hegemonic manner, the apprehension over resistance forms and political organization of the artistic professional category in Brazil and its historical relevance, introducing as reference, in order to analyze the present, the political experiences of an array of artistic movements against the 1964 civil-military dictatorship in the country.
