RESUMO:

Considering the phenomenon of conservatism as an ideological expression in the service of the existing order, and that the same date of its emergence after the French Revolution, the present project aims to realize the state of art about the conservatism in the theoretical production of Social Service and how the same has rebated in the strategic social direction of the so-called ethical-political project. It is sought, therefore, to analyze what the main tendencies that conservatism has been pointing and how the professional category problematizes such tendencies. The study is based on the critical-dialectical method, in order to capture the phenomena in its multiple determinations. We chose to analyze the productions of the National Meeting of Social Service Researchers (ENPESS), in the editions from 2014 to 2018, since it is an emblematic context for the Brazilian conjuncture, with the impeachment process against former President Dilma Rousseff as a climax. In this sense, we start from the assumption that the conjunctural transformations catalyze the most varied expressions of conservatism, bringing, to a large extent, numerous challenges to the Social Ethical Political Project (PEPSS). The choice of ENPESS is justified, among other factors, because it is an event that brings together several researchers from the area of Social Work, which bring to thematic themes diverse and, therefore, reveal the tendencies of the profession in Brazil.
