This project doctorate degree aims to investigate the particularities of the work of the substitute teacher in the scope of undergraduate courses in Social Work in the federal universities of the Brazilian Northeast, taking into account the context of changes undertaken by the educational policies proposed by the neoliberal adjustments that have been increasing the process of precariousness and intensification of teaching work. To do so, we will seek to know the working conditions and the particularities of this modality of employment in three federal public universities in the northeast: Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). The choice of the Northeast is justified considering our insertion in the Northeastern reality, in which we play the role of substitute teacher and in which, currently, we are in the position of postgraduate student. We used as a criterion for the definition of the university sample the existence of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Social Work with masters and doctorates, which in the Northeast are three: Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte UFRN). The choice of the criterion of the existence of postgraduate studies with masters and doctorates, was given to enable us to analyze how the precariousness of the teachers' employment links impact the training not only in the graduation in Social Work, but also in the postgraduate. Based on historical-dialectical materialism, as a method and theory, the research proposed here is of a qualitative nature and aims to demonstrate the intrinsic relationship between work, social reproduction and the social complex of education from the Marxian assumptions for the analysis of the ontological genesis and the social function of the educational complex, as well as the limits it presents in the sociability of capital, analyzing the particularities of Brazilian society in the current conjuncture. To reach the objectives of the research, the methodological procedures of bibliographic research, documentary research and field research will be used. Field research will use the systematic observation about the work situations of the professors of these universities, considering some indicators such as: number of links, functional situation, career, working conditions, conditions for professional qualification, work organization and types of management. In addition to the systematic observation, we will collect empirical data from individual, semi-directed and semi-structured interviews, with four substitute teachers from each teaching unit, totaling a sample of 12 professionals, taking into account the specificities of different teaching subjects, which will provide a notion of the trends of the restructuring by which the university and the teaching work are happening in the current conjuncture. The choice of the professors of each Unit of Higher Academic Formation (UFAS) will be sought in order to diversify the possible sample, considering: time of exercise as substitute teacher, age of teachers, race / ethnicity, university of origin, among other elements. Finally, the documentary, bibliographical and empirical data will be analyzed and confronted with reality, in the sense of proposing a reflection and a critical analysis based on the work of the substitute teacher in the Brazilian Northeast.
