RESUMO:

This research aims to analyze the advance of real estate capital in the Vila de Ponta Negra and the process of expropriation of the residents.  Located in the southern part of the city of Natal, the Vila is part of the Ponta Negra neighborhood that is subdivided into several housing estates and lots.  Vila de Ponta Negra is the oldest sector of the neighborhood, originally a village of farmers and fishermen.  Since the mid-1960s, Vila workers have been stripped of land used for agriculture, and today, with the advance of world financial capital and its interest in the territory, they face capital investing that uses a variety of devices to expropriate the workers from their territory.  In the territory there are opposing classes dividing the same space, realities and completely different needs reflecting even more complex and contradictory phenomena proper to capitalist social formation.  Capitalism has orchestrated expropriations from its genesis to the present day. In the current, imperialist phase, the concentration of production and capital generates new needs and diverse forms of expropriation, this time under the control of a strong financial oligarchy that has appropriated and privatized collective rights and assets to guarantee expanded reproduction of capital.  The struggles carried out by the urban reform movement that ensured the inclusion of articles on urban policy, for the rights to housing and to the city, conflict daily with the superior defense of property rights that leads us to analyze the role of the State in these conflicts.  The research has a qualitative character and the method to be used will be dialectical historical materialism because it understands that the phenomena express a part of the reality, not its totality, needing to apprehend the maximum of determinants that intersect the object of study to abstraction of its essence.  For this it is necessary to review literature, documentary and field research. Semi-structured interviews will be carried out with members of the older families of the Vila de Ponta Negra, documentary analysis and use of the field logs.  We emphasize that the deepening of the historical peculiarities of the Ponta Negra neighborhood will not occur in isolation, it will be articulated with the financial real estate capital movement in the city of Natal, as well as in Brazil. In these terms, it seems essential to broaden the understanding of the categories: labor, capitalist relations of production and reproduction of space, socio-spatial segregation, territory and urban expropriation / spoliation.
