RESUMO:

The object of study of this research project are the demands related to the abusive use of psychoactive substances in the work of the social worker in the municipality of Natal / RN. The central objective that guides this research is the analysis of the demands, challenges and strategies of action of the social workers in the public institutions of mental health care to the dependent chemist. The focus given to this study is quanti-qualitative, and for the apprehension of the object of studies in its main information and data, the following instruments of data collection will be used: bibliographic review, documentary analysis, and semi-structured interview. In this sense, it will be used here data about the abuse of psychoactive substances, raised by a public body about drug addiction, drug trafficking, violence related to drug trafficking and also about institutions that treat addiction. It should be emphasized that this study may contribute to the debate of the professional practice of the social worker in the public spaces for attending to chemical dependence, and is of social relevance, based on the defense of the human rights of those who use psychoactive substances and / or those Which bear the stigma of the consequences of such use. In addition, we start from the assumption that the Brazilian Social Service should broaden this debate, both with regard to the conflicts of interest that guide this discussion, and with regard to the theoretical-methodological and ethical-political perspectives that the professionals are supporting That act daily in the attendance to these demands.
