RESUMO:
The research aims at a theoretical approach to the policy of social assistance promoting the analysis of social assistance for the elderly services. To this goal, it search to examine social assistance services as an important mechanism in the field of social protection. Thus, it has got as principal goal the analyses of the configuration of basic social protection for the elderly services, at the level of SUAS, in the city of Natal (RN), checking what is the effectiveness of the policy of social assistance proposed for this level of attention. In a general way, the basic social services at the level of basic social protection aim to strengthen links of solidarity, providing socialization and reception to families and individuals. The research is guided by the dialectic-critical method, in order to obtain a critical understanding of reality, given its contradictions, without isolating the subject or study social reality. In relation to the locus of empirical research, the research will be realized with the network that makes up Basic Social Protection (PSB), a member of the Unique system of social welfare (SUAS), in the city of Natal (RN). To this purpose, the collection of primary data will be through interviews (semi-structured and driven by the script) with the professionals who work in the network of basic social protection. The study also focuses on the review of the literature in the bibliographic sources, by also making use of documentary source. It is expected that this research can contribute to the debate on social protection for the Brazilian elderly Social Assistance policy and expand, moreover, the debate in what concerns Social Assistance services to basic social protection. The expectation is be always able to provide elements for the social work and social support services for the elderly at the level of SUAS.
