SUMMARY:
Road transport in Brazil is the main means of movement of goods, services and people. With population growth, it is necessary to carry out maintenance and construction of highways in the country. This causes the exploitation of natural resources and waste generation that cause major environmental problems. In the production process of Hot Mixed Asphaltic Concrete (CAUQ) a residue called Graded Gravel with Asphalt (BGA) is generated, a noble material, composed of coarse aggregates, small aggregates and Petroleum Asphaltic Cement (PAC). Thus, the technical viability of BGA was analyzed in proportions of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% in mass, in relation to the new hot-machined asphalt mixtures. For this, chemical characterization analysis by X-Ray Fluorescence (FRX), mineralogical analysis by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and physics of BGA and natural aggregates were carried out. Asphalt mixtures incorporating BGA were produced based on Marshall dosing procedures. It was verified that the mixes with 2% and 8% of BGA presented the best volumetric parameters and Marshall stability values higher than recommended by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) standards. In addition, it was verified that the BGA under study presents a granulometric composition with high qualitative potential for use in concrete compositions subjected to dynamic loading, in view of its high load capacity. Given this scenario, it can be concluded that BGA was presented as an alternative material to be used in the composition of CAUQ, since it met important parameters from a technical, economic and environmental point of view.
