SUBÁREA: Geografia Física
SUMMARY:

Aiming to analyze the susceptibility to flooding in the urban environment of Caicó/RN, the present work refers to the application of a series of geoprocessing and remote sensing techniques, employed in order to model the environment in question, with the aim of characterizing the river system urban, making use of morphometric calculations, based on data from the SRTM mission of the MDE of 30 m space resolution NASADEM, it was possible to show that: the watershed in which the referred area is inserted, in its natural form, does not present susceptibility to flooding, through calculations such as Kc (Compactness Coefficient) and Kf (Form Factor), made it possible to understand that the river system presents channels of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5°, 6 ° and 7th order, according to the classification of Strahler (1952) and also a medium drainage density (Dd); infer the current stage of runoff in the urban environment, through the SCS-CN method that took into account the return time (Tr) for each rainfall event to be analyzed, considering the hydrological characteristics of parameters such as: land use, hydrological groups and total precipitations. Thus, the use classes of the WPM sensor, which has 8 meters of spatial resolution in the multispectral cameras and 2 meters of spatial resolution in the panchromatic band, were obtained by means of supervised image classification, using scenes from the CBERS 4A satellite. soil and their measurement, which in turn were defined as: dense vegetation (12%), sparse vegetation and pasture (55%), buildings (13%), streets (3%), water bodies (4%) and soils exposed and rocky outcrops (13%). As for the hydrological groups of the soils, it was observed that in the same area there are only Litholic Neosols representing 58% of the area and the Chromic Luvisols occupying 42% of the area, both types of soils belong to the hydrological group D, according to the proposed classification by Sartori et al. (2005).
