SUMMARY:

The use of information management and process management practices and techniques aligned with the use of computerized information systems and their technological resources that organize and process data and information are essential for better development of processes within contemporary organizations. At the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), this is no different, as the institution strives for constant improvements in its institutional processes. Considering that the use of technology in a systematized way leads to improvements in the flow of information and activities inherent in institutional processes, the importance of computerizing these processes is clear. As such, the probationary period (PE) process is an important candidate to be favored with the resources coming from the systems present in the institution, considering that this process does not yet have a computerized system dedicated to its management. In view of the above, this study asks: What functionalities are needed for a computerized module to support the management of the Probationary Internship process at UFRN? Therefore, in general terms, this study aims to propose a module to support the management of the probationary period process at UFRN in the Integrated Human Resources System (SIGRH), containing functionalities that meet the information needs of the actors involved. Specifically: a) Analyze the documents that regulate the probationary period; b) Map the flow of activities and the flow of information in the PE process at UFRN; c) Identify the information needs of the players involved in the PE process at UFRN; d) Structure the floor plan (the functionalities) of the PE module in SIGRH. In order to achieve these objectives, a qualitative, descriptive and applied study will be carried out, based on information management and process management in an institutional process, based on a case study. As for the instruments used to collect the data, documentary research will be carried out, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with the actors involved in the process, and a focus group will be held. Content analysis will be used to analyze the data collected. Finally, as a result of this study, the aim is to contribute to improving the management of the process of monitoring, analyzing and approving the probationary period of UFRN civil servants, by proposing a computerized module aligned with the premises of information management and process management.
