INFORMATION FLOW IN THE OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENT PROCESS IN THE CONTEXT
OF A FEDERAL HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION
Organizational processes. Information flow. Occupational accidents. Business intelligence.
The work accident process at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) aims to prevent accidents by implementing actions, which includes information management. There is an annual number of accidents that requires attention from the institution. This demonstrates the need to develop strategies that allow for control through informed decision-making. These systematic and consistent actions favor efficiency, effectiveness, and, above all, the effectiveness of workplace safety. In this context, this study questioned: How to enable improvement in UFRN's work accident process through the enhancement of information flows, coupled with Business Intelligence (BI) tools? In order to address this question, in general terms, the aim is to propose a Business Intelligence (BI) tool to improve information flow in the work accident process at UFRN. And specifically: a) Analyze the perception of the involved actors regarding their participation in the information flow, concerning the work accident process; b) Map the work accident process at UFRN and identify its informational flow; c) Identify relevant variables regarding communication and analysis of work accidents; and d) Propose a BI to visualize data or process indicators that assist management. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative, descriptive research was developed, based on information management in an organizational process, through a case study. As for the data collection instruments, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with the research subjects, and documentary research will be carried out.
