SUMMARY:

This study aims to analyze how the affective experiences lived by transvestites and trans women from a country town in the state of Rio Grande do Norte affect their bodies and how this reflects in the construction of their identities. This is a qualitative research of ethnographic bias, conducted with eight transvestites and trans women from a country town in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. At first, I seek to conduct a survey on how these bodies were and have been socially represented, from various contexts and fields, such as the sacred, scientific and media, trying to point out how these representations were/are constituted and the existing mechanisms for their maintenance, also aiming to establish a connection between what was discussed and the speeches of my partners trying to elucidate how issues related to representation cross them. Next, from an articulation of the speeches of my research partners, I aim to reflect on how these subjects constitute their identities and represent themselves and how these (self) representations dialogue/converge with (external) social representations. Finally, turning directly to their affective experiences, I aim to reflect on how such experiences are reflected in the constitution of their own identities and bodies [that is subject], trying to understand possible changes and affectations in the construction/understanding of themselves.
