DYNAMIC LIGHT SCATTERING AND RHEOLOGY IN AGAROSE SOLUTIONS
Agarose; rheology; dynamics light scattering.
Rheometry has been the standard method used to correlate macromolecular cluster formation in agarose solutions. A full description of the formation of these aggregates in of extreme importance, as its formation is the first step to the process of gelification. In this work, an alternative monitoring is porposed, using dynamics light scattering. The validity of the method is verified via the determination of apparent activation energy for the relaxation process during relaxation, as a function of temperature and agarose concentration, followed by comparison with apparent activation energy derived from viscosity.
