SUMMARY:

Introduction: the Research Center for Food and Medicines (NUPLAM), a pharmaceutical industry linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), plays a fundamental role in the academic training of Pharmacy students. The institution serves as a practical training setting through supervised internships, which are carried out in a co-responsible manner between the internship coordination of the Department of Pharmacy and the Management of Teaching, Research, Innovation, and Extension at NUPLAM. In the dynamic context of the pharmaceutical industry, the need arose to analyze the alignment between the learning objectives established by the internship coordination, the students' activity plans, and their implementation in the current NUPLAM setting. Objective: the study aimed to evaluate the consistency between the learning objectives for competency-based training in supervised internships and their implementation at NUPLAM, as well as to propose improvements in the internship structure for better alignment with the reality of the pharmaceutical industry. Materials and methods: this was an exploratory and descriptive study involving the internship coordination of the Department of Pharmacy at UFRN, the Management of Teaching, Research, Innovation, and Extension at NUPLAM, and the preceptors responsible for supervising the students. The study was conducted in three stages: 1. situational diagnosis of the internship structure; 2. definition and systematization of competencies through pedagogical workshops; and 3. assessment of students' perception of satisfaction with the supervised internship. Results: the results highlighted discrepancies in the organizational structure of the internship, which impacted the implementation of learning objectives for competency-based training. As a solution, an educational product containing seven competency matrices was developed, serving as a reference for internship activities within the institution. This standardization enabled more effective alignment between academic training and industry demands, in addition to strengthening the teaching-service integration and expanding internship locations. Conclusion: the adoption of the competency matrices allowed for a more structured approach to guiding internship activities, ensuring greater adherence to curricular guidelines and the educational project of the course.
