SUMMARY:

This research paper focuses on presenting the history and contribution to the pedagogy and repertoire for brass instruments of the MaraBrass Group, based in São Luís, Maranhão. Objective: This paper presents records that demonstrate the musical activities developed by the group, culminating in the emergence of a regional repertoire that values local culture with compositions for this type of ensemble. Materials and Methods: The research was structured based on document analysis, bibliographic review, and semi-structured interviews, seeking to demonstrate the generations and events that fostered its emergence and its contribution to the consolidation of chamber music and brass instrument pedagogy in the capital of Maranhão. Result: This work offers the community interested in the subject matter a perspective that seeks to unveil the initiatives and contributions that the group has made throughout its more than 22 years of existence. Discussion: The data analysis makes it evident that the MaraBrass Group plays a significant role in strengthening the practice of chamber music for brass instruments in São Luís-MA, in a context historically marked by the valorization of symphonic formations and more traditional bands, where the actions of the aforementioned group directly dialogue with musical teaching-learning processes, especially by promoting activities that integrate performance, technical training, and cultural dissemination.
