This study aims to investigate and enhance cellists' technical skills through the application of concepts
developed by Tanya Carey in her Cello Playing is Easy (CPE) project. To achieve this, the research
includes an overview of Tanya Carey’s musical career and the context of her method, highlighting its
main technical and pedagogical elements. Additionally, the study analyzes the effectiveness of the
CPE approach in the preparation of the Prelude from Suíte Brasileira by Dimitri Cervo, establishing
connections between the method’s principles and the technical challenges of the piece. The research
also includes an interview with the composer to gain insight into his perspective on the interpretation
of the work. Finally, this study seeks to develop support materials for the preparation of the piece,
contributing to the improvement of cellists’ performance.
