This article aims to discuss the relation between proprioception, kinesthesia and technical efficiency in
cello playing, explaining their concepts and suggesting practice approaches that focus on body
sensations. From these thoughts about the decisions made by the author in his own everyday practice,
this text points to some consequences and possible development about this kind of approach to
practice, showing that the fundamental role of the body in musical performance is not only related to
playing the instrument, but also to fluency and concentration during performances.
