THE DAY OF A COMPOSER: FROM BOTTOM-UP TO TOP-DOWN
Compositional memorial; Operations on musical qualities; Compositional accompaniment model.
This work presents the development of the author’s compositional practice in the form of composition memorials. The main objective of the work is to report the displacement of the creative doing of the author, which was more concerned with the manipulation of materials by means of techniques, for an approach focused on ideas, goals and compositional principles. It presents a theoretical foundation organized according to the instances of the Compositional Accompaniment Model proposed by Silva (2010a), listing the Principles, Goals, Materials and Techniques that gather general elements that were used in the compositions listed in the memorial. It presents the memorials of the works Hircus, for cello quintet, Tapioca, for brass quintet and Momentos Eternos, for mixed ensemble, made from the Silva Model, listing the instances of the Model as sections that describe the creative course of each work and concluding comments.
