SUMMARY:

Inspired by Jacques Rancière’s Method of the Scene and primarily by art as a social technique of feelings, this project reflects on the music workshop offered at the Community and Culture Center (CECO) in Natal, a device of the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS). We investigate the music produced by the group as a collective experience that promotes the power of action. Through immersion in the workshop spaces and the production of a field journal, we constructed scenes that contemplate the connections between events, people, images, movies, lyrics and melodies that allow the attribution of meanings and respond, albeit partially and momentarily, to what the CECO’s music workshop can do. The results indicate that the aesthetic experience can contribute to the breakdown of prejudices surrounding psychological suffering, indicating art as a mediator of individual and social transformations and also as an enabler of the political acts carried out by the group.
