SUMMARY:

Violence in the healthcare workplace is a complex, multifaceted, and growing phenomenon, especially in the context of Primary Health Care (PHC), where professionals are exposed to intense interpersonal relationships, social vulnerabilities, and structural limitations. It constitutes a relevant and current issue, given the repercussions its occurrence can have on the personal and professional lives of healthcare workers, also impacting on the outcomes and quality of care provided by these services. In light of this, this study aims to analyze the effects of violence experienced by PHC workers on their health and professional performance. This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach, to be conducted in the municipality of Santa Cruz, Rio Grande do Norte, involving health professionals working in Basic Health Units in the urban area. Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews, with the aim of understanding the meanings attributed to these experiences and the coping strategies developed by the professionals in response to the incidents they have experienced. Additionally, we propose conducting a workshop aimed at collaboratively developing strategies to address this issue within the context of investigation. The analysis will be conducted based on thematic content analysis. We expect to identify the main forms of violence present in daily work life, their effects on workers’ physical and mental health, as well as their repercussions on work and care processes. As a result, the aim is to contribute to the development of institutional strategies for preventing and addressing violence, as well as to support the creation of a guiding document for municipal management, promoting safer, more equitable, and healthier work environments in Primary Health Care (PHC).
