Knowledge on breastfeeding and complementary feeding of the population and health professionals is a key determinant of the problems related to these practices. The present study aims to assess the knowledge on breastfeeding and complementary feeding of nurses who work in the municipalities of the 4th Health Region of the state of Paraíba and analyze its association with demographic and professional characteristics. The research has a cross-sectional design and will be developed with professionals from 49 health teams from these municipalities. For the data collection, an adapted validated questionnaire will be applied to these workers, containing questions about breastfeeding and complementary feeding. Knowledge will be considered fine when at least 80% correct answers are present and bad if the number is under 50%. The relationship between the level of knowledge and the explanatory variables will be analyzed using the contingency coefficient and the difference in proportions according to the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. The research project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Paraíba (71609317.9.0000.5187).
