SUMMARY:

Musculoskeletal chronic pain (MCP) represents a growing challenge in Primary Health Care (PHC), due to both its high prevalence and its functional and psychosocial impact on affected individuals. In the municipality of Serra da Raiz-PB, the immediate context that originated this study, a high and constant demand for MCP-related care was observed, which was also present in other municipalities comprising the 2nd Health Region of the State of Paraíba, revealing the need for more structured and resolute interventions. In this context, the study was guided by the following research question: "How can the use of non-pharmacological practices lead to improvements in the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain within the scope of Primary Health Care?" This study aimed to develop technical care propositions for MCP management in PHC, integrating non-pharmacological practices based on scientific evidence and the perceptions of health professionals. It was an exploratory-descriptive research, which adopted a methodological bias aimed at the development of health technology, with a qualitative approach, organized into three stages: (1) scoping review; (2) data collection with PHC professionals, through a focus group; (3) elaboration of technical propositions. The qualitative analysis was conducted using the thematic content analysis technique. The results identified practices and challenges in MCP management in PHC, supporting the elaboration of technical propositions with an emphasis on non-pharmacological practices. The recommendations have the potential to qualify clinical management, increasing resoluteness and promoting more effective care aligned with SUS principles.
